Read market analysis responsibly

Analysis is a framework for asking questions, not a promise of where a price will go. Separate what you can observe from what you assume and what would invalidate a scenario.

Start with an observation

Identify the instrument, price source, date and timeframe. A daily chart and a five-minute chart describe different windows. A sequence of higher highs and higher lows can describe an upward trend over the selected period; it does not establish the next move. Historical prices and illustrative drawings are not live execution quotes.

EarlierLater
Illustrative chart only: rising highs and lows do not prevent a later decline. No live prices, timestamps or measured market data are represented.

Turn a claim into conditional scenarios

Support and resistance describe areas where price previously reacted, not barriers it cannot cross. Write both possibilities: continuation if conditions hold, or a failed setup if they do not. State the evidence that would change your view. An indicator summarises past inputs; several similar indicators may repeat the same information rather than provide independent confirmation.

Economic news adds uncertainty

Inflation, employment and central-bank decisions can affect interest-rate expectations. A headline alone does not tell you what the market already expected. Compare the release with expectations, consider revisions and look at more than one explanation. News can also produce wider spreads and slippage. Avoid treating a calendar event as a directional instruction.

Practical chart exercise

  1. Describe the sequence of highs and lows in the illustrative chart before its last decline.
  2. Identify one observation and one assumption. “Earlier highs rose” is an observation; “the next high will rise” is an assumption.
  3. Explain why a strategy would need an invalidation condition and a loss budget before any entry.

Self-check: the earlier sequence rises, but the final fall challenges continuation. The chart alone cannot determine execution, costs or a suitable position size.

Summary

Responsible analysis names the source and timeframe, distinguishes evidence from assumptions and considers contrary scenarios. It is educational context, not personal investment advice. No chart pattern or strategy guarantees profits.
